Replacing the ugly metal strip on this parquet floor made all the difference. Here we used some nice stained American white Oak. All hidden fixings, but solid as a rock. All ready for the main floor to be sanded and oiled.

What an honour it is to be the first one to open this up, since the day they were first installed….over 100yrs ago!
The panels removed were made to originally replicate a closed shutter, purely decorative.
A typical period property, nothing is plumb or square. That’s all part of the challenge!
We’ll make good and then start making some shutters in our workshop, to compliment the original panelling. In fact, the aim is to make these shutters look like they ‘are’ an original period feature, in this Clifton home.
Each window will feature four panels that will fold away nice and neat. When opened the four panels will create privacy and meet in the middle nice and smoothly.
The panels themselves will be made and painted off-site, keeping mess and disruption to a minimum.

The kitchen renovation in this Southville home is almost complete. Just the decorating left to do by the customer, to finish the transformation.
From a kitchen with minimal workspace, to a kitchen with heaps of worktop space, in the form of a new kitchen island.
This kitchen also had signs of water ingress. All affected walls were treated with a membrane solution and then fully insulated. Providing a warm and damp free kitchen.

Floating shelves build
The brief on this project was to make some solid oak, floating shelves and window board. All made to match an existing oak dining table, featuring a waney edge effect. All finished with a natural looking hard wax oil.

Let’s get some original features back in this staircase!
Stripping out the old plain spindles and replacing them with traditional spindles from @howdensjoinery makes a massive difference to the look and feel to these stairs.
Revealing the handrail grain and all its history from under all that old paint, gives some warmth to the plain white staircase. Finished with some gloss yacht varnish from @rustinsltd definitely makes a statement and highlights some beautiful markings and historical repairs.
All then hand painted with a water based white eggshell finish. Paint supplied by @rabartdecor
With lots of filling, sanding and multiple coats of paint, the treads and risers are now ready for a carpet stair runner to finish off the traditional look in this period, terrace home.
